Morna

Set in Ireland during the 1950's, Morna captured my attention from the opening paragraph. The story centres on the life of Morna, a young girl growing up in a small Catholic town where religion is part of life and where priests are committed to celibacy. When she falls in love with a young man destined for priesthood, Morna struggles to find happiness elsewhere but cannot escape the lure of forbidden love.

The characters are well-drawn, the dialogue true to life. The plot moves at a good pace, making it one of those rare books I found hard to put down. I look forward to seeing more from this talented author.

MORNA

Melange Books sent me a contract for my historical short story, THE GIFT, set in 1930s Ireland on my grandparents' farm. The story will be included in an anthology to be printed in December, 2011. It will also be available for download in ebook form. I'm excited about that.
